Mediated Family Law

Mediation is a tool used to settle your case without having to fight everything out in court. It is a process by which you hire a mediator who is like a judge who cannot make decisions but who can provide insight into the possible outcome of your case at trial based on his or her family law experience. During mediation the spouses are usually separated into different rooms. The mediator is someone who understands family law. He or she facilitates settlement by taking proposals for settlement back and forth between the two parties in an attempt to reach an amicable agreement.

Mediation is a great concept. It usually takes anywhere from half a day to several days and the cost can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. It is much less expensive however, than battling in court. Best of all, it lets you participate in making key decisions that will affect your future and that of your children.S tatistics show that in family law cases, mediation works over 90% of the time.
